2 held for extortion
Arvind Kumar Reddy, who is working as Drug Inspector in Hyderabad, received a call from one Linga Rao, who impersonated an ACB DSP, saying that a raid would be conducted on former’s office.
Hyderabad: The SR Nagar police on Sunday arrested two persons, including a Drug Inspector, for extorting Rs 4 lakh from another Drug Inspector under the pretext of ACB raid. The accused extorted Rs 4 lakh from him.
Arvind Kumar Reddy, who is working as Drug Inspector in Hyderabad, received a call from one Linga Rao, who impersonated an ACB DSP, saying that a raid would be conducted on former’s office.
SR Nagar Inspector said the accused Linga Rao and Drug Inspector Anil Pratap hatched a plan to extort money from inspector Arvind Kumar.
One of the accused called the victim and asked him to shell out money to escape from the ACB raid. They took Rs 4 lakh bribe from Arvind Kumar. The accused Anil sent his accomplices to collect the cash. The accomplices are yet to be nabbed, said the inspector.
