Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Rao on Monday suggested that the Telangana and AP governments take steps to extend their online services to the grassroot level. This could enable farmers get required certificates from the revenue authorities for farm loans and also for getting power connections from the electricity department, without having to needlessly interact with officials and pay bribes.

The bench took up the case based on news reports with regard to alleged corruption in Revenue department and Power Distribution Company in Mahabubnagar district. The government pointed out that has been extending 161 online services through “ Mee Seva “ centres located in each mandal headquarters in the state. The bench suggested that the facility be taken up to the village level as farmers may not have access to the mandal headquarters.

When the counsel said that the government proposes to extend the facility to the village level in a phased manner, the bench told the counsel representing AP to explore the possibilities and appraise the court by Wednesday.
