Hyderabad: With several commercial establishments piling up huge arrears, senior officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Tuesday have been directed to shift focus on to such defaulters and not waste time on defaulters owing meagre amounts.

Officials have decided to collect 100 per cent current charges along with the arrears. Water Board Managing Director M Dana Kishore held a review meeting with revenue officials and instructed them to concentrate on major commercial establishments rather than on “minor shop”. He said that this move would yield the HMWS&SB good revenues.

The Water Board MD instructed the officials to prepare “current collection efficiency” for each section manager (engineering) and also to fix targets for “arrears collection” and “current demand collection” separately. The focus should be aimed at collecting 100 per cent “current demand” and a part of the arrears every month, he said.

Dana Kishore also instructed the officials to concentrate on converting the big connections where commercial activities are operating instead of “small and petty shops” as per the existing norms. Executive Director M Satyanarayana, Operations Director G Rameshwar Rao and other officials participated in the meeting.
