Nalgonda: Demanding justice to the oustees of Nagarjuna Sagar Tail Pond project, CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram launched the two-day padayatra at Jammanakota of Peddavoora mandal on Wednesday.

The party district unit is organising the padayatra in the inundated villages of Dameracherla and Peddavoora mandals in the district.

The villagers extended their support to the padayatra by welcoming the CPM leaders on a grand note.

Speaking to media on the occasion, Tammineni Veerabhadram demanded that the government should pay the compensation immediately to the oustees of eight villages of Tail Pond project according to the Land Acquisition Act 2013 and government jobs to all eligible youth of the inundated villages.

The party was conducting the padayatra to mount pressure on the government to get justice done to the oustees and also a public meeting would be held at the project site on Thursday, he informed.

On day one, the leaders covered Chintalapalem, Nayakuni Thanda, Julakanti Thanda and Nadigadda. Leaders warned the government that if the issue of Tail Pond oustees is not addressed on war footing, then the party will conduct dharna with the victims in Hyderabad on July 26.

Party district secretary Julakanti Ranga Reddy, district president Mallu Lakshmi, leaders Ravi Nayak, Venkat and the villagers participated in the padayatra.
