Hyderabad: Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Thursday demanded that the government evict all non-boarders and suspend faculty members responsible for carrying out anti-national activities on the University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus.

Addressing a press conference here along with VHP working president V Surender Reddy and others, VHP president M Ramaraju alleged that the faculty members of the UoH, including Tathagata Sen Gupta, Kaveri and others were behind the anti-national activities in the university.

“Every anti-national figure is made a hero in this university. They raised slogans in favour of Afzal Guru and Yakoob Menon. They have also taken out a procession in support of terrorist Burhan Wani,” said Ramaraju.

Ramaraju said that when a section of students under the influence of the faculty members took out a rally in support of Burhan Wani, ABVP students took out a counter rally in protest against it.

He alleged that Amol Singh, a supporter of Khalistan, attacked an ABVP student Kailash Singh, resulting in grievous injuries. He also alleged that there were 150 members in the university who were not students and were living illegally on the campus for nearly two years.

He demanded that the government order an inquiry and evict all non-boarders immediately from the campus. The VHP leader alleged that the university students who were involved in anti-national activities were getting support from political parties like MIM and CPM.

He also alleged that CPM leader Sitaram Yechuri often visited the university to instigate students to take up protests in the university, and asked the government to order an inquiry and arrest the Communist leader.

He demanded that the State government reimburse medical bills of the ABVP student who was injured in the attack led by Amol Singh and others. He said the VHP would organise a bike rally ‘Chalo Hyderabad University’ on July 28 in protest against the anti-national activities being carried out on the UoH campus.
