Hyderabad: An initiative by a city-based e-portal that offers netizens an opportunity to reach out to Indian Army personnel guarding the borders has caught the attention of several online youngsters.
With the theme of sending someone surprise wishes, the company has already received more than a thousand online messages which would be printed and hand-delivered to soldiers at army camps across the country.
To start with, the company plans to deliver some 5,000-odd general email messages addressed to soldiers at the army camp in Srinagar. The portal allows anyone from anywhere across the country to write a letter to soldiers.
Sharing details about the initiative, Varun Todi, co-founder of Oye Happy, said they started the initiative under the name of Community Surprise Responsibility (CSR), where they come up with different ideas for a social cause.
“The idea of writing email messages to army personnel came up when one of the team members travelling to the Himalayas spent half a day with the jawans at an army camp. Anyone can share their love; write a letter of appreciation and send a hug or a salute on letterstotheindianarmy.com.
These letters will be printed and hand delivered to army jawans in Kashmir before the Independence Day,” he said.
He said that within a week they had received around 1,000 letters from netizens and were expecting more than 5,000 letters by July end. “By the end of the month, all e-mail messages would be printed and handed over at random to personnel at an army camp in Kashmir,” he said.
He also informed that similar email messages gathered between August 1 and 14 would be delivered to another army camp in the city on August 15.
