​Nalgonda: Protesting against the police action on the oustees of Mallanna Sagar reservoir in Medak, leaders of all Opposition parties staged dharnas, road blockades and burnt effigies in the district on Monday.

In Miryalaguda, Congress leaders staged a sit-on dharna near the bus stand. In Shaligouraram, Congress leaders along with CPI leaders called for a bandh and raised slogans against the government for its anti-farmer policies.

CPM leaders took out a rally and burnt the effigy of the government in Nalgonda, condemning the police lathi charge and firing on innocent oustees of Mallana Sagar in Medak during their peaceful protest.

The leaders of the Opposition parties lashed out at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Minister Harish Rao on maintaining double standards with regard to the oustees of Mallanna Sagar.

They called on the people of the district to condemn the police action against the farmers, who are fighting for their genuine rights.

They suggested the government to honour the farmers’ demands and do justice by paying compensation to all who lost their lands according to Land Acquisition Act 2013.

The leaders of Opposition parties also demanded a detailed enquiry into the police action against farmers and suspend the cops involved in the incident.

Telangana Vidyavantula Vedika staged a road blockade in Nalgonda town against police action and condemning the arrest of political JAC Chairman Prof Kodanda Ram. They demanded action against police, who caned the farmers and immediate release of Kodanda Ram.
