New Delhi: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP K Keshava Rao urged the Centre to take into account the suggestions of all members in amending the Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) Bill here on Thursday.

Speaking on the Bill, Keshava Rao said States would have to play a more important role in preserving forests because it should be their main concern. The MP said the Centre's initiative in thinking of protecting forests, which were fast depleting, was good and appreciated Congress leader Jairam Ramesh for drafting the Bill carefully.

"Thus he has a dual role - one of being part of the governance and also that of being in the Opposition," Rao remarked. The suggestion of Jairam to make the rules more comprehensive and holistic was welcome, the MP said.
