Kids made my day awesome: Commissioner

Warangal: Even as the Twitterati, WhatsApp and other social media platforms are agog and flooded with the texts and pictures of #FriendshipDay, a bunch of young girl students chose to celebrate the ‘Friendship Day’ in an unparalleled way.

In a bid to make the occasion a memorable one, M Laxmi Mahati, Ch Lahari, P Chinmayi, M Sowmika and Vaishnavi, who met this morning at their tuition point, have decided to befriend the Kotwal of Warangal (Police Commissioner) G Sudheer Babu and be photographed with him.

With one of these girls dad working with police department, they approached the Kotwal’s office. Instantly, the girls’ request was accepted by the Commissioner, who indeed was busy inspecting the UPSC Civil Services preliminary examination being held first time in Warangal.

Overwhelmed by the response, the girls who walked into the District Police Office found the Commissioner was waiting for them.

After the girls tied the Friendship bands to him, the Commissioner interacted with them while eliciting information about the girls’ academic progress.

“I wish you all be responsible citizens of this country and bring accolades to your parents and nation,” Sudheer Babu told the happy bunch of girls.

Floored by the response of the police boss, the girls told The Hans India: “We never expected this kind of response.

“Now we can say proudly that Police Commissioner is our friend,” they said, beaming a broad smile on their faces.

“On a day when people are glued to their smart phones posting the #FriendshipDay texts to their friends and responding, these kids have thought differently and made my day awesome,” Sudheer Babu said.
