Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Tuesday on Tuesday directed Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to build 800 new bus stands in phase one. The GHMC has decided to construct a total of 2,300 in the city.

The Minister, who held a review meeting with the officials Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and GHMC, directed them to conduct resurvey on 226 identified locations to facilitate to construct modernised bus bays in Hyderabad.

KTR asked the GHMC and ASCI officials to construct modern bus bays in four different models with advanced facilities. He asked officials to divide the city into three to four zones to take up the bus bay project in a phased manner.

The Minister also asked officials to improve the solid waste management system. He directed them to develop a mechanism in such a way that the GHMC would directly collect garbage from residents who produce huge amount of garbage on a daily basis.

He stressed the need for keeping strict vigil on vulnerable garbage points and take strict action on residents who would dump garbage in open areas. KTR instructed the officials to expedite the digital door number project.

Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and others participated in the meeting.
