​Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, as part of its drive against defaulters, disconnected as many as 70 water connections on Tuesday.

Those disconnected water connections belonged to multi-storeyed apartments, government and private establishments and industries.

The Water Board had cut off Saroornagar Indoor Stadium for not clearing Rs 6,96,492 arrears, APCPDCL (Auto Nagar sub division) for failing to pay Rs 2,14,036 arrears, PWD workshop near the Mint Compound for accumulating arrears to the tune of Rs 2,00,000, Venkateshwara Pharma (Nacharam) for not clearing arrears of Rs 1,65,000, G.E.Works (IDA, Nacharam) for not paying Rs 1,50,000 water bill and a dairy farm in Nacharam which owed Rs 1,00,000.

The Water Board pasted notices with details of the arrears on the doors of the top defaulting customers. Water Board Managing Director M Dana Kishore called upon defaulters to clear their arrears immediately to avoid disconnection of taps.
