Nalgonda: Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy and Power Minister Jagadish Reddy took an aerial survey on Tuesday and inspected the arrangements and flow of pilgrims at major ghats in Mattapalli, Wadapalli and Nagarjunasagar. The main purpose of the tour was to see that there was no inconvenience to the pilgrims attending the river fest.

As a part of their aerial survey, they arrived at Nalgonda helipad by 11 am and inspected Pangal and Darveshipuram ghats. In Pangal, Indrakaran Reddy offered a saree, flowers and Harathi to River Krishna.Later, they went to Sagar Pushkar Ghat and interacted with officials and enquired with devotees about the facilities being provided at the ghat. Thereafter, they visited Wadapalli and Mattapalli pushkar ghats and interacted with pilgrims and priests.

Majority of the devotees expressed their pleasure over the arrangements. In Mattapalli, District Library Chairman Allam Prabhakar Reddy informed the Ministers that ban on “Balla Kattu” in Krishna river during Pushkaralu was impacting the rush and revenue of the temple. In reply, Ministers said they would discuss the matter with the officials concerned and take a final call.

Speaking to media at Mattapalli, the Ministers expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made by district administration and lauded the services of the volunteers in assisting the devotees. They directed the officials to pay same attention till the last moment of the last day of Pushkaralu, which conclude on August 23.

Indrakaran Reddy further informed the officials of Governor’s visit to the historic Mattapalli on August 20 to take holy dip in Krishna. District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy and SP Prakash Reddy accompanied the Ministers during their aerial inspection.

Meanwhile, the devotee turnout at pushkar ghats fell on Tuesday. As per official record, around 2.24 lakh devotees took the holy dip in ghats in the district on Tuesday, whereas on Monday it was 5 lakh.

As many as 50,000 devotees took holy dip at 11 ghats located across the Damercherla mandal including major ghat, Wadapalli, while 65,000 devotees had a holy bath at three ghats in Nagarjunasagar, 30,000 devotees took the holy dip at one of the major ghats in Mattapalli.
