Nalgonda: The performance of Telangana folk art forms Chindu Yakshaganam, Burra Katha and Oggu Katha by artistes at pushkar ghats in the evening times have made the senior citizens nostalgic.

They were overjoyed seeing the performances and recalled times when these folk arts were the only form of entertainment to them. However, the folk arts now are struggling for existence.

Under the supervision of I and PR Department and Samskrithika Sartathi, folk art forms Chindu Yakshaganam, Burra Katha and Oggu Katha were being performed by the artistes on the stages setup near pushkar ghats at Nagarjuna Sagar, Mattapalli and Wadapally to entertain the pilgrims who were arriving for pushkar bath in River Krishna.

Somaiah, a 70-year-old pilgrim, who stopped by near cultural stage at Mattapally Ghat said, “I never thought I could get to see Yakshaganam in live performance in the present times. I thank the government for organising these programmes.”
