​Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis will sign the historic agreement on the construction of irrigation projects on inter-state borders on Tuesday. KCR, who will be assisted by his Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and senior officials, will sign the agreement for the construction of barrages and completion of various other irrigation projects in Mumbai at 3 pm on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the TRS has decided to celebrate the signing of the historic pact with Maharashtra. Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav informed that the Chief Minister and his team would be given a rousing reception at the Begumpet Airport on August 24. He said the agreement would benefit lakhs of farmers in five districts of Telangana state.

Under the agreement, Telangana would construct Tummidihatti project at 148 meters FRL (Full Reservoir Level) on Godavari tributary Pranahitha and Medigadda project with 100 meters FRL on river Godavari.

The Chanaka–Korata project would be taken up jointly by the TS and Maharashtra at 213 FRL on Penganga river with 105 TMC capacity. As much as 102 tmc of water would be utilized by Telangana and 5 tmc by the neighbouring state.

The agreement for the survey of the construction of Digras barrage proposed by the Maharashtra government will also be signed. All the issues regarding utilization of water, submergence and project designs have already been analysed by the officials of the CDO (Central Design Organizations) of the two states in detail and were approved.

The irrigation officials said that before entering the agreements, Inter -State Board consisting of 23 members, including CMs of the two states, ministers and officials would hold a meeting and approve the terms and conditions of the agreement.

The board has been constituted to resolve all pending project issues between the two states on March 8. Lendi project, Tummidihatti, Medigadda projects and barrages at Rajapeta, Chanaka – Korata and Pimparad-Parsoda on Penganga rivers and lower Penganga projects have been brought under the purview of the Board.

The Board would also pursue the new projects proposed under Godavari in the future.
