​Warangal: An associate professor of chemical engineering at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal, Shirish H Sonawane, has been honored with prestigious NV Mittal Memorial Research Award-2016. He was presented the award by Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee for his innovative and creative work in chemical engineering. The award carries one lakh rupees cash prize, a citation and silver medal and is one of the important recognitions in engineering science.
He received the award from Prof Ashok Misra, chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Roorkee during the convocation day of the IIT held on September 30 in Uttarakhand. The chairman of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani and others attended the function.Sonawane has filed around nine patents and several research articles have been published in international journals. He is working with number of industries to solve several engineering issues. His research group consists of 10 Ph D scholars.
