Hyderabad: The ambitious plans of Telangana government to build one lakh double bedroom houses within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits has hit a roadblock as no contractors are willing to come forward to participate in the tender process at the present rates being offered by the government.

The last date for tenders was September 28 and not a single application was received. As a result, the GHMC is now calling for fresh tenders from Thursday.

The contractors, according to sources, are not willing to come forward at the present rates being offered by the government.

While the government has fixed Rs 7 lakh for G+3 and Rs 7.9 lakh for G+9 floor houses, the contractors claim that it would not be possible for them to participate in the bid unless the government increases the per unit amount to Rs 10 lakh.

When asked about it, a senior GHMC official told ‘The Hans India’ that the Corporation had invited tenders to construct 766 2BHK houses in Secunderabad, 224 units in Sanathnagar, 180 units in Goshamahal, 128 units in Musheerabad, 126 units in Kukatpally and 108 units in Assembly constituencies under the GHMC limits but the bidders had not participated in the tender process which ended on September 28.
