Hyderabad: It is going to be goodbye to chalk and talk method in the government schools in Telangana as the government has decided to introduce digital classrooms in 2,175 schools soon.

To digitise a classroom, it would cost Rs 75,000 per school which comprises an LCD screen, pen drive which assimilates the internet signals from the Internet Service Provider (ISP)/Server to project the lessons on the screen.

K Shankar Naik, Assistant Statistical Officer in Rastriya Madhyamika Sihksha Abhiyan (RMSA) admits that the digitisation of schools project was actually conceived a year ago, but for some unavoidable reasons it got delayed. He added, “It would be implemented this time around.”

Presently, there are servers at 2,200 schools and the teachers are being trained in the nitty-gritty of technology.

Hyderabad District Education Officer (DEO) Somi Reddy said 40 schools in the district already have LCD screens.

The expert groups like Indian School of Business (ISB) are technical partners in evaluation of the content, Institute of Electronic Governance (IEG) and Telangana State technical Services (TSTS) would be taking care of troubleshooting issues.
