Mahbubnagar: District Collector Ronald Rose, who took charge as new Collector of Mahbubnagar district on Tuesday, said his goal was to give priority to children’s health and education apart from other developmental activities in the district.

While addressing his first press briefing with media on Thursday, the Collector said that after the reorganisation, Mahbubnagar was now left with 26 mandals and most of these mandals were still reeling under poverty and underdevelopment.

“Reorganisation of the district is mainly aimed at bringing the administration to the doorstep of the common man. Merely reducing the size of the district does not mean there is no poverty; it is now our responsibility to look into the issues and problems with more closeness and clarity,” he said.

Rose said his priority would be to ensure that all the flagship programmes of the State government like Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha, Shadi Mubarak, Kalyana Laxmi, and Gramajyothi, etc, were implemented as per the targets set by the State government.

He said he would give high priority to students and their health and education. The focus would be on the quality of education and basic facilities given to students in the residential schools and implementation of Mission Kalam project to introduce digital classes so that the quality of education would improve.
