Telangana government has extended Mission Bhagiratha scheme to 35 municipalities, where the water supply system between Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and rural water supply grid would be integrated.

​Hyderabad: Telangana government has extended Mission Bhagiratha scheme to 35 municipalities, where the water supply system between Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and rural water supply grid would be integrated. Special Chief Secretary to Municipal Administration and Urban Development M G Gopal said out of 35 ULBs, 10 ULBs were covered under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) for which 50 per cent grant would be received from the Union government.

For the remaining ULBs, State government would provide funds. The government has accorded sanction of the total project cost of Rs 4,403 crore of which Rs 3,706 crore would be loan component and Rs 697 crore as Centre’s subsidy. Under Package I, the seven municipalities included under the scheme are Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Miryalaguda, Nalgonda and Suryapeta. Under Package II, Adilabad, Warangal and Nizamabad would be covered.

The ULBs included under Package III are Jagityal, Korutla, Metpally, Siricilla, Palvoncha, Sathupally, Yellandu, Bellampally, Bhainsa, Kagaznagar, Manchiryal, Mandamarry, Nirmal, Jangaon, Gadwal, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Bhongir, Tandur, Vikarabad, Sadasivpet, Sangareddy, Zaheerabad, Bhodan and Kamareddy. The official said the Telangana Urban Finance Infrastructure Development Corporation (TUFIDC) would be the nodal agency for the release of funds.
