KCR to leave for Delhi today to meet Modi
Worried over the negative impact the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes would have on the state budget 2017-18, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone and sought Centre’s intervention in the matter.

The Chief Minister will be leaving for Delhi on Friday evening to meet the Prime Minister. Earlier during day, KCR spoke to the Prime Minister over phone.
The Prime Minister asked the Chief Minister to come to New Delhi with a detailed report on the measures it wants to be taken to mitigate the difficulties of the people post-demonetisation.
Following this, KCR reviewed the impact of the demonetisation on the state’s revenue with the Chief Secretary, Special Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries at his Camp Office.
The Chief Minister opined that if demonetisation of currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination is going to help clean up the country’s economy it should be welcomed.
“Any reform is a continuous process and it should be aimed at excellence. When thinkers and intellectuals together embark on a purpose it would be nothing but success,” he said.
However, any decision taken by the Centre to curb and prevent black money should not cause misery and suffering to the lakhs of small traders and those in the unorganised sectors as well as the common man.
“Efforts should be put in place to safe guard the interests of these sections in society. People should be made partners and stakeholders in development,” he said.
In this context, the Chief Minister opined that all those having more than Rs 2.5 lakh income or having savings should not be treated as black money holders.
Instead it should be referred to as unaccounted money. Small and medium traders, businessmen and others in the unorganised sectors should be given certain exemptions. They need to be supported.
They should be given one more chance to disclose and deposit their accounts thereby granting them one-time amnesty, the Chief Minister opined.
He said the Centre should also take into account how the states have incurred losses and fall in flow of revenue to the exchequer.
To mitigate the state’s sufferings, the Centre should defer payments from the states on the loans taken by them, the Chief Minister observed. He said he would bring all such issues to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, KCR directed TRS MPs not to participate in the agitation by opposition parties against the demonetisation move.
According to sources, the Chief Minister spoke to TRSLP leader Jitender Reddy over telephone and told him that they should not take part in the protests by opposition parties both inside and outside Parliament.
He also directed them not to disrupt the proceedings of Lok Sabha.
