Mancherial: The parents were advised to create awareness on road safety among their wards at a road safety awareness programme held at Government High School for Boys here on Wednesday.

District Road transport officer Krishnaiah said road safety clubs have been established in all districts including the new districts to create awareness in this regard.

Necessary steps were being taken to prevent accidents. He explained the precautions to be taken while driving and crossing the roads. Youth are the main victims of several road accidents, he observed.

He suggested two-wheeler drivers to wear helmets compulsorily as several people were dying due to head injuries, after meting out road accidents.

Stating that the road transport authority along with police department has been working to prevent accidents, he requested the public to cooperate and follow safety measures.RTO Vivekananda Reddy and deputy DEO Chari were present.
