Mahbubnagar: Tahsildars of all the 26 mandals in Mahbubnagar district have been asked to speed up the works under double bedroom housing scheme and ensure that the works of identification of land and beneficiaries from each mandal be completed as early as possible.

The State Government had already announced that each Assembly constituency would get about 1400 houses, and given full powers to the Collectors with regard to selection of suitable place in each mandal or village.

The Mahbubnagar District Collector Ronald Rose, on Friday, conducted a video conference with the Tahsildars and asked them to identify suitable land and prepare the beneficiary list by selecting the best eligible persons who are below poverty line.

“All the Tahsildars at the Mandal level have been informed to speed up the works under double bedroom housing scheme at the earliest. Utmost care must be taken while selecting the beneficiary and all the applications should be approved by conducting gram sabhas so that no ineligible person is selected,” the Collector said. Earlier, during the Collectors’ conference, the Chief Minister gave powers to the Collectors in identification of beneficiaries.

They were told to take the help of mandal revenue and revenue divisional officers for the identification. While at the time of selecting the beneficiary a transparent lottery system has to be followed in the presence of the local MLA who would decide the numbers of beneficiaries from each village by way of conducting gramasabhas.
