Backward Classes panel asks TSRTC to adhere to quota rule in Allotment of shops at bus stations
The Committee on Welfare of Backward Classes of the Telangana Legislature on Monday directed the TSRTC officials to follow rule of reservation in the allocation of shops at the bus stations within the jurisdiction of TSRTC.

The Committee members headed by its chairman V Gangadhar Goud visited TSRTC head office in the city on Monday to take stock of the implementation of the rule of reservations with regard to the BCs in the corporation posts.

Addressing a press conference later, the Chairman said that the TSRTC has a staff strength of 53,669 and out of them, 26,418 were from Backward Classes, which was over 49 per cent. He wanted the Corporation to follow the rule of reservations in the allocation of shops in all the bus stations of the corporation in the state.
The Committee chairman said that the State government had appointed a liaison officer specially to oversee the implementation of the rule of reservations with regard to the BCs. He said that they held discussion with members of BC Associations in the Corporation and told them to ensure that the rules were strictly implemented.
According to officials, the BC employee strength in various categories is 26,418 and out of them there are 116 employees under Class-I category, 440 employees in Class-II, 25,112 in Class-III and 750 in Class-IV category in the corporation.
The Committee wanted the Corporation to increase the representation of women among the BCs in the Corporation. They also wanted the officials to improve facilities in TSRTC hospitals.
Similarly, the Committee wanted officials to implement the rule of reservations among the outsourcing employees.Goud said that as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the TSRTC was taking steps to overcome losses. He said that Corporation reduced losses to the tune of Rs 60 crore during the year 2016-17 due to the various steps taken up by the officials.
With a bus fleet of 10,463 buses operating 35.48 lakh km covering 3,729 routes, transporting over one crore passengers every day, the Corporation was providing best services with 0.07 per cent accident rate. TSRTC chairman S Satyanarayana and other Committee members were also present.
