The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started the preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi with a coordination meeting with the representatives of Bhagyanagar Utsav Samithi (BUS).
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started the preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi with a coordination meeting with the representatives of Bhagyanagar Utsav Samithi (BUS).
The meeting which was held at the GHMC head office was attended by BUS representatives, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy, HMWS&SB MD Dana Kishore and senior officials from Police, Engineering, Electricity, Irrigation and various government Head of Departments(HoDs)including, Zonal Commissioners and Additional Commissioners.
Speaking to the BUS representatives, GHMC Commissioner said the civic body was making elaborate arrangements for the Ganesh idol procession during immersion like repairing of roads, pot holes, water stagnation points, special LED lighting and deploying special Ganesh Action Teams. One team consisting of 20 members will be made available for every three to four kilometres for proper coordination and smooth flow of the procession.
BUS representatives thanked the government HoDs for taking necessary initiatives in making the Ganesh procession flow smoothly without any predicaments.
On the request of BUS representatives, similar coordination meetings will be arranged at ZC, DC, Police Station, division wise, to make sure there is proper coordination between ground level staff and the representatives. They also pointed out that some drainage works, road repairing works and other civic related works which were taken up long back have not been completed yet.
In this connection GHMC Commissioner gave assurance that all the works will be completed prior to the festival and said that directions have already been given to the concerned officials to take up the works on war footing. BUS representatives also requested that the crane operators be given proper training to perform the duties at the time of immersion.
City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said every crane would be fixed with CCTV cameras and multi-agency operations, control room will also be set up with command control centres to help maintain law and order situations.
Reddy said all the heads of the departments will take measures for the smooth passage of Ganesh Chaturthi and Bakridon the same lines as last year.
Water Board MD Dana Kishore assured the representatives that sufficient water will be provided for two days round-the-clock and mini airtech machines will also be deployed for proper cleaning.The works which are pending will be completed prior to the festival, he added.
GHMC Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin said the civic body, water board, police department and other connected departments are making elaborate arrangements for Ganesh and Bakrid festivals.He requested the representatives to have proper coordination with the officials for smooth conduct of the festivals.
