Hyderabad: Controversial comments passed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s close aide and senior Telangana leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu hinting at a possible alliance of the ruling TRS in Telangana with the Telugu Desam for the next Assembly elections in a recent interview with a regional channel has raised several eyebrows in the Telugu-speaking states.

Strongly rejecting any alliance with the Congress, Narasimhulu said the Telugu Desam Party would not be averse to join hands with the TRS in Telangana, if not with the BJP, in future to prevent the Congress from coming to power as the party had come into existence on ‘anti-Congress’ platform.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s presence at the wedding of the late Paritala Ravindra’s son Sriram accompanied by Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Vemuri Radhakrishna, editor of a vernacular daily and considered as a close advisor to Chandrababu Naidu, in particular, seem to add fuel to the speculation of the possible coalition.

Political circles believe that even the TRS chief is considering joining hands with the TDP in Telangana to counter the growing consolidation of the Reddy community against him. Aggressive moves by the Congress in the state and the perceived closeness of Telangana JAC chief Prof M Kodandaram with the Opposition too seem to be ringing alarm bells in the TRS circles.

Will Telangana’s political arena witness an alliance which is impossible even to imagine a few years ago, let alone plausible? We shall let the time to decide it for in politics no one is a friend or foe forever.
