Hyderabad: In a bid to hasten the official procedure for the creation of new zones and to fulfil the promise of filling over one lakh posts in a year, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao himself seems to have plunged into action.

Soon after the announcement of the increase of zones to render justice to job aspirants of all districts four days ago, the Chief Minister began consultations with the Union government.

The Chief Minister instructed Principal Resident Commissioner Arvind Kumar to take up first the long-pending notification of 21 new districts in the official gazette of the Union government. It is mandatory that all districts should be notified in the gazette before the creation of new zones by amending the Presidential Order.

The Centre has not yet notified the 21 new districts created in addition to the 10 for the last one year. Union Ministry of Home Affairs is the competent authority to the approval of new districts.

Official sources said that Chandrashekar Rao spoke to some top officials of the Union government on phone and brought to the notice of them the long-pending recognition of new districts.

The government is planning to create more than six zones covering five districts in each zone. To increase the number of zones, it requires amendment to the Presidential Order. To get the consent of the President for the proposed new zones, the government should submit the details of all districts including demography and the social composition in every district.

Officials said the Planning Department, in coordination with all other concerned departments, was compiling the data - per capita income, GSDP, rural development, unemployment etc in each district. Based on the data, new zones will be created.

Sources said Chandrashekar Rao also entrusted Special Advisor to State Government S Venugopala Chary with pursuing every issue regarding the creation of new zones with Central authorities and help all concerned departments to expedite the process.

Sources said that Chandrashekar Rao was likely to visit Delhi in November and meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the issue.
