Hyderabad: The rain fury continued on Sunday with heavy spells across many parts of the city coupled with thunder showers. Many areas have witnessed heavy rains and drains overflowing.

A man was reportedly washed away on Sunday in a storm water canal (nala) in Jeedimetla that was suddenly swelled following the flash flood. LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, BN Reddy Nagar, Hayathnagar received heavy rain.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Y K Reddy, director (in-charge) warned that a chance of Cumulonimbus could not be ruled out in next week though it passed off on Sunday.

It is also warned that Hyderabad city along with other parts of Telangana could witness another series of heavy downpours from October 19. A low pressure emerged in middle of the Bay of Bengal.

According to weather department, there was a chance that the low pressure would transform as depression in the coming 48 hours. Due to this effect, Coastal Andhra will receive rain with thunderbolts.

Tarnaka, Lakdikapool, Himayathnagar, Amberpet, Jeedimetla, Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Yakuthpura, Bahadurpura, Kukatpally, Alwyn Colony, Ellamma Basthi were some other areas where the rain was so intense. Low laying areas were flooded with rain water.

The vehicular traffic, as usual, faced severe hardships. Quthbullapur area received 41 mm rain, followed by Ramchandrapuram 22.3 mm, Serilingampally 18 mm, Uppal 13 mm and so on.
