Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday said that to achieve ‘Bangaru Telangana’ was not possible within days or weeks, but it could be achieved over the course of time. He said the TRS government was laying foundations to achieve ‘Bangaru Telangana.’

The Chief Minister replied to Congress member Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who sought to know what actually Bangaru Telangana means. "Many leaders are talking about ‘Bangaru Telangana’. The TRS member K P Vivekanand used the word ‘Bangaru Telangana’ for about 20 times, but I don’t know what exactly ‘Bangaru Telangana’ means. To the best of my knowledge ‘Bangaru Telangana’ means all the poor should get benefits," said Venkat Reddy.

Intervening in the discussion, the Chief Minister said, "What can we do if you don't understand what ‘Bangaru Telangana’ is. However, we are in the process of laying foundations for ‘Bangaru Telangana’ and it could not be achieved within days or weeks... it takes some time." He asked the Congress members to give constructive suggestions to the government so that the government would take better measures for ‘Bangaru Telangana’. He said the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Backward Classes (BC) hostels were on the verge of closure and they want their hostels to be merged into residential hostels.

He further said the NITI Aayog also had recommended the government to go for residential school education. The State and Central governments would work in coordination in the residential schools and added that it would take time to shift the entire hostel system to residential institutions.

Earlier, Venkat Reddy said most of the hostels lacked proper toilet and bathroom facilities. He said the students were taking bath under trees in Osmania Medical College. "There is no shortage of funds in the State. The government should provide high quality facilities in hostels. He wanted the government to solve the problems of the contract lecturers as the academic year was coming to an end soon. "We will support ‘Bangaru Telangana’ though we don't know what exactly it means," said Reddy.
