Hyderabad: Leaders of Democratic Teachers Federation (DTF) here on Monday accused the State government of not only neglecting the mother tongue Telugu in primary and secondary schools but also encouraging English medium education in the State.

Speaking to media persons here, DTF State president M Raghushankar Reddy, general secretary T Linga Reddy, vice-president M Venkatramulu and secretaries questioned the government’s intention in organising World Telugu Conference from December 15 while it launched 540 residential schools in English Medium.

Recalling that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had proclaimed that he would protect Telugu language and culture during the Telangana agitation, the DTF leaders lamented that after assuming power, the former was totally neglecting the government education and leaving no chances for appointment of Telugu language teachers in the State.

Declaring that they were registering their protest against the World Telugu Conference, the DTF leaders demanded that the government solve the issue of uniform service rules and pave the way for teachers’ promotions. They also demanded issuance of health cards to the employees of government schools and condemned the unwanted interference of the District Collectors in the Education sector. They also declared that they would not allow the interference of Revenue officials in the SSC examinations.
