Hyderabad: Reward follows hard work. The employees of power utilities in Telangana state will get a special increment for putting in place round-the-clock free power supply to the farm sector three months ahead of schedule. The increment would be given to the staff of all the power utilities, the two Discoms -- TSTransco and TSGenco from January itself.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was happy to commission the new facility for farmers, which was his dream for the last three years and rewarded the staff for making it come true.
"Telangana is the first state in the country to commission 24-hour-power supply to farm sector free of cost since December 31 midnight," the Chief Minister said.
On the occasion of launching of the scheme, the Chief Minister held a meeting with top officials of Energy department at Pragathi Bhavan here where he described a wonderful development supplying power round-the-clock to agriculture sector in the youngest state of Telangana, which is just 3-and-a-half-year old.
He said that the gigantic task of supplying 24-hour power supply to all the sectors in the state is made possible due to the employees of the Electricity organisations who pulled the state from power deficit to power sufficient.
“With supplying 24-hour quality, uninterrupted and free power to farm sector, Telangana will go down in the history,” KCR said. The scheme was implemented in record time though it was not mentioned in the TRS manifesto nor did he ever made any promise, he said adding that he had done it, keeping in view the untold misery of the farmers.
Initially, the government planned to introduce the scheme from March 2018. Considering the necessity of round-the-clock power supply, the government brought the scheme into force for rabi season itself which begins in January. He said except the T-state, no other state in the country was giving 24-hour free power supply to the farm sector.
Congratulating all the concerned, the Chief Minister said a special increment will be given to the electricity employees from January 1 this year. Telangana Genco and Transco Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao thanked the Chief Minister for announcing special increment to the electricity employees. He said the decision taken by the CM will further inspire the employees and they will work with double the vigour.
