Hanamkonda: An awareness programme organised by NIT Warangal on Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) counselling for admissions into NITs and IITs received good response from students and parents.

NIT Warangal Director Prof NV Ramana Rao speaking after inaugurating the programme, congratulated the successful candidates of JEE and explained the objective of the programme. He said the programme was first of its kind to be organised by the institute to help students seeking admission to NITs and IITs.

It was found that some students were often losing opportunities because of minor mistakes they commit in filling of online forms. Also, many students do not come well prepared with the required documents for the reporting.

In order to equip the students with knowledge on counselling procedures the awareness programme was conducted, he said. During an information session on the NIT Warangal, he explained the institute history, academic programmes, research, placements, facilities and international collaborations they have.

The Admissions Chairman Prof DV Shiva Sharma has explained the JOSAA counselling procedures through a power-point presentation. He highlighted common mistakes committed by students in choice filling, submission of documents, and payment of fee and asked the students to avoid such mistakes. He was supported by admissions team who addressed several questions of the students and their parents.

Dean (International Relations and Alumni Affairs) Prof KV Jayakumar presented a report on the institute and what it offers for the prospective students. Dean (Students Welfare) Prof LRG Reddy explained the details of festivals, sports, co-curricular activities and student’s life on the campus.

Chief Warden Prof A Venu Vinod gave the details of the hostels on campus for boys and girls. Later on the day, the participants were taken on a visit to various departments to learn about the specific branch of engineering, interact with faculty and also visit laboratories.

The students and parents, who attended the event, expressed happiness at the initiative of the NIT Warangal saying it helped them to have complete details of admission procedures. Queries related to admissions could be posted on the institute’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/NITWadmissions and they would be answered by the admissions team.
