The SVS volunteers along with the hundreds of students took out a rally from Pavilion grounds to Dharna Chowk and staged a sit-in in front of the District Collectorate and submitted a memorandum to District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Srikanth Naik said the government had converted all the tribal welfare hostels in the State into residential schools. But, in Khammam district only seven out of total 15 hostels were converted into residential schools.

No basic facilities were created in the residential schools in the district, he said. Moreover, the government had not appointed a single regular teacher in the tribal residential schools till date, he pointed.

He demanded that the government appoint regular teachers belonging to tribal community in tribal residential school for providing quality education to the students. S V S Balu Naik, Anil Naik, Ramdas Naik and Nagendra Babu were present at the programme.
