Hyderabad: Palle Srujana, a voluntary organisation, in association with Industrial Financial Corporation of India’s (IFCI) Social Foundation distributed eight Asu machines among residents of Weavers’ Colony, Janagaon recently.

According to a release issued here, Palle Srujana has been connecting people, from both private and government organisations, to help poor weavers get Asu machines. It said the response had been good and so far, 800 machines had been distributed with the financial support of many people and organisations.

Asu machine invented by Ch Mallesham can wind 12.5 km thread around 41 steel pins separated by 4 feet in one-and-half hours which if manually done, needs over six hours by moving of hand 9,000 times across 4 feet. IFCI General Manager Deepak Mishra distributed the machines to Pochampally weavers in the presence of representatives of Palle Srujana and Mallesham.
