Lack of clarity in a communication received by several candidates from the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences KNRUHS Warangal left the parents who are seeking admission for their wards in MBBS and BDS courses under Management Quota MQ in a dilemma

Hyderabad: Lack of clarity in a communication received by several candidates from the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) Warangal left the parents who are seeking admission for their wards in MBBS and BDS courses under Management Quota (MQ) in a dilemma.

Speaking to The Hans India, Sridhar Reddy from city seeking admission for his daughter in MBBS under B category of MQ on Tuesday said that if his daughter does not get it under B category then I will admit her under the ‘C’ category, a quota earmarked for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

And, the university communication says that those participating in the online counselling scheduled from July 17 to 19 at Prof G Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education, Osmania University Campus, in city, are asked to come with a demand draft of Rs 40,000 for B category seats and Rs 70,000 for 'C' category seats for taking admission in the MBBS course. Similarly, those seeking admission in the Bachelor of Dental Sciences (BDS) will have to come along with a demand draft for Rs 20,000 for B category and Rs 40,000 for 'C' category.

A university communication of July 13 said, “All the candidates whose names are included in the merit list for Management quota for B and C NRI categories displayed on KNRUHS website on July 11 are informed to attend online counselling as per the schedule given" and "Candidates shall attend for counselling with Demand Draft towards Non-refundable University fee in favour of Registrar, KNRUHS payable at Warangal for B and C categories for MBBS/BDS courses." Satyanarayana, from LB Nagar in the city, who wanted to admit his son, either under B or C category in BDS is also confused as to whether he will have to take two separate DDs, one for B and another for C category.

"There is no clarity on this, forcing me to take a DD for Rs 20,000 for B category and another DD for Rs 40,000," he added. When contacted a senior official from the KNRUHS said that parents need not worry about it. For example, if some person has got allotment of a seat in MBBS under C category instead of B category, then, all that they have to do is take a DD for an additional amount of Rs 30,000 and submit the DD taken earlier for Rs 40,000 along with the DD taken for an additional amount of Rs 30,000, he added.

Because, the DDs of non-refundable university fee has to be paid and obtain the allotment letter, he clarified. The first phase of online counselling for admission into the MBBS and BDS course for the year under Management Quota of B and C (NRI) categories in the private aided minority, private un-aided non-minority medical colleges, private un-aided dental colleges and Army Dental College affiliated to KNRUHS is scheduled to be held from July 17 to 19. Those allotted will have to pay the tuition fee as fixed by the government, the official said.
