Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraj Ahmed ordered the officials of fisheries department to sanction units on subsidy to all the fishermen, eligible under Integrated Fisheries Development Scheme (IFDS) for their economic development.

He held a review meeting with the officials of fisheries department to discuss about the successful implementation of IFDS, here at Collector camp office on Wednesday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Collector said the State government is releasing fish seeds in all tanks on 100 per cent subsidy for the financial growth of fishermen and ordered the officials to sanction units like luggage autos, TVS mopeds, fishing nets, ice boxes and other vehicles useful for selling fish, on 75 to 90 per cent subsidy to beneficiaries.

The officials were told to prepare the final list of beneficiaries after thoroughly checking the applications and they were strictly told to avoid applications of those, who were benefitted earlier.

The Collector said a district-level meeting will be arranged very soon to issue the proceedings for those the units are sanctioned. He suggested the officials to go for lottery system in case there are more beneficiaries.

District fisheries officer B Bala Krishna, fisheries development officer Vijay Kiran, fisheries ground-level officer Ashok and supervisor Venkateshwarlu were present in the meeting.
