Karimnagar: Every year the State government is investing Rs 55,000 to Rs 60,000 crores for the welfare of farmers, stated Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar.

He was the chief guest at the launching programme of ‘Rythu Bandhu Samuhika Jeevitha Bima Scheme’ for the welfare of farmers, at Mugdhampur village of Karimnagar mandal on Monday and distributed bonds to the farmers.

Speaking on this occasion, Minister Rajendar said it has become difficult for the farmers to cultivate due to water scarcity and due to less rainfall, which was recorded from the past few years. Understanding the problems, the government took an initiative to help the farmers and is introducing several schemes.

He said that the Telangana government is the only government across the nation, which had invested Rs 7,000 crores for supplying free power to farmers. The government has spent Rs 12,000 crores under Rythu Bandhu scheme to help farmers by sanctioning Rs 8,000 per one acre for two seasons as an investment for agricultural practices.

Rajendar said that the government is sanctioning seeds, fertilisers and tractors on subsidy to farmers. With a view that the family members of farmers should not face difficulties if any farmer dies accidentally or unexpectedly, the government introduced Rythu Bima Scheme.

The farmers in the age group of 18 to 59 years will be covered under the scheme. The cheque for Rs 5 lakhs will be issued to the family members of the farmer within 10 days.

MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, Joint Collector Bhadri Srinivas, Joint Director of Agriculture Department Sridhar, MPP N Ramesh, Libraries Department Chairman Anugu Ravinder Reddy and Society Chairman Raja Mallu were present.
