Hyderabad: In a warning to the State, the Met department said on Sunday that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur on Monday at some places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna-Sircilla, Peddapally, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Warangal, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mahbubabad, Khammam, Suryapet, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts.
The bulletin attributed the heavy rain to the formation of a low -pressure area over the north-west Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the north-west Bay off the West Bengal -Odisha coasts.
The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places in the State from August 20 to 23. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon was active during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday. Very heavy rain occurred at some places in Mahabubabad district. There was heavy rain in Warangal Rural, Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts.
The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Mahabubabad 15, Garla 13, Bayyaram and Dornakal 12 each, Chennaraopet 11, Khanapur 10, Gudur 9, Enkuru and Julurpad 8 each, Yellandu, Khammam Urban, Mulakalapally, Narsampet and Nallabelly 7 each, Gundala, Sathupalle , Palvoncha and Madhira 6 each.
There was 5 cm rain each in Parvathagiri, Kothagudem, Atmakur, Shayampet, Tekulapalle, Kusumanchi, Konijerla, Aswaraopet, Chandrugonda and Parkal. There was 4 cm rain each in Miryalaguda (Nalgonda), Bonakal (Khammam), Venkatapuram (Bhupalpally), Chinthakam (Khammam) and 3 cm each in Nalgonda, Aswapuram, Burgampadu, Dummugudem (all in Kothagudem), Karimnagar, Thollada (Khammam), Suryapet, Manuguru (Kothagudem), Mogullapally (Bhupalpally).
There was 2 cm each in Mulug, Govindaraopet, Pinapaka, Hanamkonda, Julapalle, Bhadrachalam, Kothagudem, Bejjanki, Thimmapur, Venkatapur, Manthani, Medak, Hasanparthy, Huzurabad, Kaleshwaram.
