Hanamkonda: What the people in the State have been witnessing is Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s ‘family rule’, former MLA and senior BJP leader Marthineni Dharma Rao said, speaking to media at Press Club here on Monday.

“KCR was stuttering when he spoke at his party’s Pragathi Nivedana Sabha held at Kongara Kalan on Sunday,” he said, stating that the TRS government has no achievements to show in little over four years.

He alleged that a sub-contractor of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) sponsored the expenditure of Pragathi Nivedana Sabha by giving Rs 400 crore to the ruling party. In the regime of the TRS government, contractors are ruling roost, he said.

“Around 20,000 police personnel were deployed for the smooth conduct of the meeting for which the government has to bear about Rs 57 crore. This apart, the TSRTC has to bear a loss of nearly Rs 92 crore as it has plied 90 per cent of its fleet for the Sabha. Is it not waste of money?” Dharma Rao questioned.

With this meeting, the TRS introduced a new culture of beer and biryani, he said, referring to the TRS leaders’ lure to attract the crowds for the meeting. KCR failed to reveal his fulfilment of promises he made during the 2014 elections, the senior BJP leader said and added that there is not much difference between Congress and TRS as they both mired in corruption.

The failure of Pragathi Nivedana Sabha indicates that people are not in favour of the TRS, he asserted. “Funds have been flowing in from the BJP-led Central government, however, the State government is disinclined to ratify it and it’s even failed to develop the State,” he alleged.

The TRS government despite getting a huge support from the Centre for the developmental works in the State, KCR owns them as his own, Dharma Rao alleged, referring to the Centre’s support for power grid, housing and other sectors.

He criticised the TRS government for its failure to establish even a single industry in Warangal. “The Centre included Warangal in Smart City Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY), but the State government lacks commitment to implement them properly,” Dharma Rao said.

Referring to KCR’s promises of developing Karimnagar as London and Hyderabad as Singapore, Dharma Rao questioned the TRS government where have gone all those words.
