They said that the water board officials left the works of pipeline incompletely. Some of the areas in the locality have not access of water due to absence of pipeline. People are getting water from private firms which are charging Rs 40 to Rs 60 per 20 litres of water can.

Mohammed Younus, a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, said, “We don’t have water in our area since one week. Officials from the water board have made an announcement asking us not to pay money to get illegal water supply and that they would lay pipelines for us. They started laying pipeline but left it incomplete.”

Another resident of the area P Sharada, said that the some of the residents were also taking illegal water connections without permission. “Paying daily per water can is difficult for us and paying for drinking water is an additional burden for a middle-class family like us.”
