Hyderabad: A youth tried to commit suicide in front of the Raj Bhavan when Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao entered the building to hand over the Cabinet resolution dissolving the Assembly here on Thursday. The man, identified as Boppani Eshwar, a social activist from Osmania University, attempted self-immolation in protest against Chandrashekar Rao dissolving the Assembly. However, the police prevented Eshwar from setting himself ablaze after pouring kerosene on his himself. He also penned a letter as to why he was committing suicide.
Speaking to the media later, Eshwar asked Chandrashekar Rao what he had done for Telangana statehood movement activists and what he had done for the martyrs’ families. Coming down heavily on Chandrashekar Rao for using unparliamentary language against TJAC former convenor and Telangana Jana Samithi chief Prof M Kodandaram, he reminded that final stage Telangana activists distanced from their studies and employment and they were now left with no livelihood. He asked the Telangana protagonists whether they were ready for another movement as he was ready for life sacrifice. The police arrested him and shifted to the police station.
