TRS ignored BCs, minorities & women in candidates list

Himayatnagar: Hyderabad city council of CPI on Friday accused the TRS of disregarding social justice by ignoring the interests of BCs, minorities and women in its assembly candidates’ list. Council secretary IT Narsimha at a press conference here, alleged that the ruling party had an unwritten understanding with the Majlis and BJP and called for efforts to defeat it in the elections. He claimed that there was no development in the city in the four-and-a-half-year rule of TRS.

The CPI leader contended that TRS understanding with communal parties would pose a threat to development and secularism, while expressing concern. He accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who claimed to give pride of place to the weaker sections, of showing bias against them in naming the candidates.

Recalling KCR’s promise of providing 12 per cent reservation to the minorities, Narsimha stated that only two Muslim nominees were named in the list of 105. He said only 21 BCs and four women were included. The CPI leader pointed out that the government’s promise of providing two BHK houses was yet to be fulfilled. Among those present at the press meet were State Committee member Chayadevi, AITUC Hyderabad secretary M Narsimha.
