Kothagudem: With Congress and TDP may strike an alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections and the Left parties may also have some kind of adjustment with them, the contest will be interesting, according to political observers in the district.
As the Telangana Rashtra Saithi(TRS) has announced candidates for all seats in Kothagudem district, people are eagerly waiting for the opposition nominees who can give the ruling party’s. The opposition parties – the Congress, TDP and CPM and others are searching for the candidates who are strong base in the particular Assembly segment and put up a good fight against the TRS candidates.
As the Telugu Desam Party has little sway in the State, it wants to regain its lost ground by sewing an alliance with the Congress party which is getting stronger from strength to strength in recent times. But the grand old party is looking for partners to TRS in the hustings.
If the Left parties also join the alliance of Congress and TDP, the election will be very interesting particularly in Kothagudem since in 2014 Assembly polls, the TRS could win only one seat out of five seats in the district though other winners have joined the Pink party later.
According to political observers, Congress and TDP alliance can give a good fight to the TRS as the district is close to Andra Pradesh and a better part of the population(close to 55%) is that which has come from the neighbouring State.
In Kothagudem district, out of five Assembly seats four are reserved for ST while only one is a general category seat. Interestingly, the Left parties have influence and vote banks in the certain pockets of the district. CPM had won the Bhadrachalam seat in 2014 election.
The CPI has good presence in villages and the New Democracy party has some vote bank in the Yellandhu constituency which is a ST consistency. The CPM Party already has alliance with Baghujan Left Front. The CPI has shown interest for an alliance with the TDP and Congress in the State.
Meanwhile, a senior Congress senior leader who is interested in fighting election told the Hans India that “the party would contest from the Kothagudem seat defenetly. Since Congress had won here several time, the party is sure of winning here this year also”.
Another Congress leader and former MLA Rega Kantha Rao said, the party will field its candidate from the Pinapaka (ST) Assembly constituency. He also exuded confidence that the party would definitely win the seat against the ruling party. Anyway, the contest is going to be interesting as opposion is coming together to defeat the ruling party.
