Hyderabad: Telangana CPI secretary Chada Venkat Reddy flagged off bus tour at Makhdoom Mohiuddin statue on Tank Bund, Hyderabad commemorating Makhdoom’s call on September 11, 1947 to fight against the autocratic rule of Hyderabad, erstwhile ruler Nizam. The bus tour is planned as part of Telangana armed struggle anniversary celebrations which are being held from September 11-17 by Telangana Praja Natya Mandali, the cultural organisation affiliated to CPI.

The bus will tour all the Telangana districts and return to Hyderabad on September 17. Remembering the CPI’s role in the struggle, the speakers said that nearly 4,000 communists laid their life in the armed struggle, which was fought to free Hyderabad from autocratic rule of the erstwhile ruler. It was only because of the communists’ sacrifices Hyderabad was liberated and joined India, they contented. Communist leaders Palla Venkat Reddy, Dr Sudhakar, former MP Aziz Pasha, Rakesh Singh, Prema Pavani Sujana and others participated in the event.
