Hyderabad: Hyderabad Kirana Merchant’s Association protested to support the Bharath Bandh over ‘FDI in retail’ called by Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and submitted a memorandum to the District Collector here on Friday. More than 700 kirana shops, 500 steel merchants and 300 plastic traders of Osman Gunj, Kishan Gunj, Mahraj Gunj and Secunderabad shut their shops.

President of Hyderabad Kirana Merchant’s Association Laxminarayan Rathi said, “We participated in a protest by closing our shops, and submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, the aim is to bring the issue in the notice of Government so that the plight of small business vendors who are facing various onslaughts from different corners even though making handsome contribution to national exchequer and GDP.” Vinay Kumar Jain, Mahesh Gupta, Arvind Patel, Ramesh, Dinesh Solani and other traders of Hyderabad and Secunderabad took part in the protest.
