Nalgonda: The city on Tuesday celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in a unique way as 57,000 students in Gandhi attire thronged NC College ground. This way the district made it to the Guianese Book of Records.

The district also organised several events like yoga and meditation by hundreds of yoga masters , cultural events both classical and folklore, recitation of poems penned by poets on Gandhian ideology, felicitating poets, freedom fighters and artists etc on the occasion.

Different stalls showcasing products which were handmade like Khadi garments, clay jugs and bottles, organic vegetables and fruits etc attracted many visitors.

The programme was organized by Gandhi Global Family and Gandhi Gyan Prathistaan in collaboration with local NGOs including Lions Club, Teacher and NGOs organisations, school and college managements and Chhatrapati Shivaji Kabaddi Club.

Chairman of the organisation Gunna Rajender Reddy, Chief Advisor MVGona Reddy, Convener Vaidyam Venkateswarlu, Co-convener Yanala Prabhaker Reddy , , district Convener Suresh Gupta and Secretary Talakola Purusotham Reddy lead the celebrations.

Guinness Book of Records Team members under the guidance Jayasimha (Guinness book record holder) have conducted the whole event and declared that it has entered into world Guinness book of records with the involvement of 5,700 children who appeared Gandhi get up.

District Collector Dr Gaurav Uppal , SP AV Ranganath, VC of MG University Professor Altaf Hussain, Regional Passport Officer of Hyderabad Harshavardhan Reddy, IMA district President Dr. Vasantha Kumari, PET Giri Babu and many veteran freedom fighters and eminent poets graced the celebrations and expressed their pleasure over the success of the mega event.
