Congress braces up to quell double trouble

Hyderabad: The Congress high command which has taken up the exercise of selection of candidates has also taken up finding the troubles makers in various constituencies to manage the rebel trouble.
According to party sources, the Screening Committee of the AICC, which is holding the meetings at Delhi, has been identifying leaders who may turn into rebels if they were denied tickets.
Committee chairman Bhakta Charan Das held a meeting with the PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, former CLP leader in Assembly K Jana Reddy, CLP leader in Council Shabbir Ali and Campaign Committee chairman Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday.
The Screening Committee will complete the exercise of selection of party candidates and will recommend them to the Core Committee of the AICC by November 8. At the same time, the Committee is also identifying the trouble makers to placate them before the announcement of the list. The leaders who may create trouble to the candidates would be invited to Delhi on November 8 and 9, and they would be convinced.
The high command which does not want any rebel trouble in the next polls is trying hard to convince the potential rebels. It has decided to offer posts to these leaders to get their support to the official nominees. The party expects that as many as 20 leaders may create trouble to the official candidates. The rebel trouble would be much big this time as the Congress is offering more than 25 seats to the alliance partners.
The high command would convince the Congress leaders to support the official nominees so that the party could put up good fight against the ruling TRS. They would be assured MLC, nominated posts and others to fall in the line.
On the other hand, the Congress has offered 11 seats to the Telangana Jana Samithi as part of alliance arrangement. However, party did not indicate the specific seats to be left to TJS officially. But the TJS was not happy with this and has been venting its ire on the seats being proposed by the Congress.
It has been objecting the seats being proposed by the Congress as they deprive the party of contest in Mahbubnagar, Khammam, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts. The Congress is also trying to convince the CPI on the seat-sharing arrangement. Party leaders met the CPI leaders and discussed the issue on Tuesday. The Congress offered three MLA seats and two MLC seats.
According to sources, the CPI has been asking for four MLA seats and one MLC seat. CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said that his party would not accept anything less than five seats.
