Hyderabad: In all likelihood, after Sankranti, TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is all set to make a foray into national politics. KCR wants to organise a few national-level public meetings with heads of like-minded regional parties to float a cohesive alternative to the BJP and Congress by January-end. The TRS supremo will be busy at national politics until the Lok Sabha elections are over in the country.

Top sources said KCR is holding parleys with a few party leaders for the preparation of an action plan aiming to bring all regional parties in the country onto a single platform before the issue of notification for the conduct of Parliament elections by the Election Commission. The commission is likely to announce the election schedule by mid-February.

KCR wants to take part in poll campaign in other parts of the states by joining hands with some regional parties, source said, adding that the TRS chief will entrust his son and the just appointed TRS working president KT Rama Rao the responsibility of party campaign in Telangana for the Lok Sabha polls. The Chief Minister will concentrate in forming a consortium of regional parties at national level. “From January, poll fever will grip the entire nation and by that time, KCR will have his full-fledged cabinet and streamline the state administration.

He will dedicate whole four months till April to national politics,” the source said. It is learnt that KCR will tour all southern states, particularly Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, before embarking on a tour of north Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Haryana, Bihar, etc. The TRS president is keen to take part in rallies in other states as part of the poll campaign by the local regional parties and highlight the importance of a strong alternative to the BJP and Congress at the Centre,” a senior leader said. He pointed out that the main objective was to consolidate regional parties to form the government at the Centre.

In the campaign, the TRS supremo will focus on distress in the farm sector and the need to bring radical changes in strengthening the federal system. He will showcase ‘Telangana development model’ mainly, the flagship schemes - Rythu Bandhu, Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha at the national level and seek the voters’ mandate for regional parties.
