Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is a facing a daunting task in revitalising the party to ensure that it captures a good number of seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. If the votes polled to the Congress are taken into consideration, the Congress has bright prospects only in Khammam and Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituencies and it is lagging far behind the ruling TRS in the rest of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies.
The MIM is considered to be invincible in Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. In Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency, the TRS got 5.14 lakh and Congress 3.65 lakh votes, in Bhongir the ruling party secured 5.95 lakh and the Congress 5.37 lakh votes and in Chevella TRS polled 6.48 lakh votes and the Congress 5.05 lakh.
The TRS polled 1.43 lakhs in Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency and the MIM 4.56 lakh, whereas Congress got 1.09 lakh votes. In Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, TRS got 6.9 lakh votes and the Congress secured 3.45 lakh votes. In Khammam the Congress got 5.56 lakh votes and the TRS 5.18 lakh votes. As far as Mahabubad Lok Sabha constituency is concerned, the Congress got 4.99 lakh votes and the TRS 4.90 lakhs votes.

The margin between the two parties was narrow in Bhongir, and Peddapalle Parliamentary constituencies. In rest of the constituencies the margins are between 1 lakh to 2 lakh votes.
According to the Assembly Constituency wise votes, the Congress can manage to capture two more seats apart from Khammam and Mahabubabad and could reach to a total of four seats and it has to strive quite hard to improve its tally in the Lok Sabha seats. There are 17 Lok Sabha seats in the State.
There will be a fight between the Congress and TRS in 16 constituencies with MIM being considered invincible. Political observers said that it would be a daunting task for the Congress as its vote share is quite low. The Congress has polled 28 per cent votes in the Assembly election whereas the TRS vote share is 48 per cent. The difference between two the parties is about 40 lakh votes.
In order to surpass the TRS the Congress has to secure 20 lakh more votes. The Congress may not get the support of the Muslim minorities who account for 12 per cent of the total voters. There are around 32 lakh Muslim voters in the State.
