Madhapur: Plans are being made by Greater Hyderabad RTC to add more services in the high traffic routes to meet passenger needs, especially in areas around Hi-Tec city. In view of opening of Metro services in Hi-Tec city corridornext month, route surveys are being conducted by RTC officials to add feeder services connecting various Metro stations with nearby areas.
As part of surveys, authorities are designing new routes based on public opinion. Around 3-4 lakh passengers travel between Mythrivanam and Hi-Tec city by buses every day. RTC has been running around 4,000 trips from Secunderabad to Hi-Tec city, apart from 12 services between Mythrivanam and Hi-Tec city. Once, the Metro services resume in Hi-Tec city corridor, the services can be run on alternative routes depending on traffic. Plans are being made by the authorities to identify feeder routes connecting various metro stations in Hi-Tec city Metro corridor with nearby colonies through route services. RTC had already started some feeder services in other Metro corridors based on public demands and is currently planning to extend the services to the new corridor.
The colonies within a distance of 10-15 km from each Metro station can be connected through feeder services. RTC is planning to connect Borubanda, Moti Nagar, Erragadda, Panjagutta, Srinagar Colony and Vengalrao Nagar colonies to the metro station at Yousufguda checkpost through feeder services. Similarly, route plans are being made to connect Gachibowli, Kondapur, JNTU and Hafizpet with the metro station at Hi-Tec city. Depending on the traffic in various routes, further feeder services to various stations could be added, an RTC official said. Plans are also afoot to add 5-10 electrical buses as feeder service connecting nearby colonies with Hi-Tec city metro station.
