Hyderabad: Neknampur Lake, which is opposite to Taramati Baradari, requires a proper fencing and a gate. The recent burning of saplings, which were planted to purify lake water and killing of a phython at the lake puts forth the urgent need to install a fence around the lake. Madhulika, who heads Dhruvansh, an NGO, said, "I sometimes wish that I had not put in so much effort in the cleaning of the lake."

"I have been knocking every door for the protection of the lake for the last two years, but there was no response from locals. She said when she approached officials they failed to take any action. Madhulika said her team members have taken the initiative to protect the lake by placing bamboo fencing, but even that is of no more help." She added that a number of people from different places used to come to see the scenic beauty, but a few drunkards and others have been damaging the beauty by throwing garbage, plucking plants and indulging in illegal activities. Madhulika said she has created awareness among people about significance and maintenance of the nature. The incident of killing a python in November near the lake has raised many eyebrows.
